Osteopathy
Osteopathy was founded in 1874 by the American physician, Andrew Taylor Still. Still lost faith in the medical system when all four of his children succumbed to cerebrospinal meningitis despite administering all of the medical treatments commonly prescribed at the time. While seeking solace by immersing himself in nature, he suddenly realized that all things in nature were parts of a greater whole. By observing how living systems in the natural world restored balance and harmony A.T. Still understood the same was true for the human body and he founded osteopathy on the study, research and observation of living systems in their natural environment. Today, Manual Osteopathy is a holistic treatment modality strongly rooted in anatomy, physiology, embryology and neurology.

Kassandra Davis
Since a young age, the central theme in my life has been health, healing & wellness. Being confronted with health complications as a young child motivated a deep exploration of health & healing and directed me to a lifetime of traveling to the corners of the earth to experience different healing modalities - and eventually, to train in the one I found most profound. Along the way I developed an interest in meditation, holistic health, organic farming and various healing arts such as sound healing, breath work, meditation, awareness practices, movement therapy, energy healing, nature-based shamanic practices, and most importantly well-rounded healthy lifestyle. In this pursuit of wellness, I studied Herbal medicine at Pacific Rim College, trained in Cranial Sacral, and spent time with spiritual masters in India & Peru to deepen my knowledge and understanding. In the end, I chose Acupuncture. Acupuncture is a healing technology that has proven effective for thousands of years, more recently it has been shown to stimulate physiological, neurological, biochemical and psychological responses. It is based on the observation of the natural world - which we are very much part of despite the complexity of our modern day world. Finding activation through Acupuncture has been the most rewarding experience as I am constantly astounded by the results it brings. My intention is to create the space to allow the body to actively or passively facilitate healing. When developing treatments, I consider the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual components involved. I utilize traditional systems and various modalities to clearly define protocols that produce measurable results. Once we have removed physical dis-ease, intentional manifestations have a supportive foundation to bud out of. I use my training in Classical acupuncture, Trigger point Dry Needling, Scalp acupuncture, Auricular acupuncture, Cupping, Tuina, Gua Sha, Cranial Sacral and advising on food, herbal & lifestyle cures to facilitate balance in my patients and find the most direct route back to their optimal health. My areas of special interest include gut health, trauma, reproductive issues, mental health, chronic injuries, physical or emotional pain, vitality & inflammatory conditions. I incorporate a lifetime of health and wellness inspired learning, and training in TCM modalities, to understand and interpret the body and encourage my patient to metabolize any past or present obstacles that reside in the body, mind or spirit so we might illuminate their journey back to their most potent self. Together, we create a clear vessel so people may reunite with their health in a way that empowers and inspires them to live their fullest potential.

Samantha Shrimpton
When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to become an Olympic gold medalist figure skater. My dream was shot, when my knees gave out and I was told I could not compete anymore. The next decade of my life was dedicated to rebuilding the parts of me that needed a lot of care and attention. In my late teens, I had a major ski accident which halted all the progress I was making. It took another decade of rehabilitation to finally be able to run, hike down a steep hill and go about my life without being in chronic agony. In the past few years, some car and bicycle accidents have given me the opportunity to become resilient in the face of psychological and physical pain. These experiences have forced me to become embodied, to know my limits, to know when it’s safe to push them and to trust my intuition. Stepping into a career path that continued to teach me about my own healing and to honour my strength of taking care of others made a lot of sense. I started with a holistic massage and bodywork program in 2015 which provided an excellent foundation to begin my studies in Chinese medicine. Having experienced such a diversity of discomfort and sensitivity within my body, mind and soul, Chinese medicine gave me so many answers. The nature of the medicine is so simple, yet profound. Our internal environment reflects our external and vice versa. When there is clutter and excess around, our mind will struggle to be clear. Food is medicine. Napping restores qi and coffee depletes it. The body holds the answers to any ailment long before it presents in distress. It’s a matter of catching the subtle hints so we can provide preventative treatment because that is truly the most effective kind. I love acupuncture. Acupuncture has helped me through body aches, nerve pain, mental fog, digestive distress, seasonal depression, menstrual imbalances and above all, given me an incredible career. I feel because of my personal experiences, I have much compassion for the healing process. It’s not an easy thing to ask for help, to begin unwinding patterns and literally break up scar tissue. It takes courage and discipline. Health is not a destination, it’s the ability to adapt to change. The greater we can adapt, the more resilient we can become. I use acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping and gua sha to restore motor function, decrease pain, break up scar tissue, promote blood flow and a para-sympathetic state in which your body can truly heal. I have a special affinity towards working with athletes, post-partum mothers and pre/post-surgery patients. Expect a combination of tongue diagnosis, muscle testing, gait analysis and postural assessments to get started. I am thrilled to be working in such a collaborative environment here at Origin where the team truly has your back.
